AusNet Services will undertake important fire season preparation work on the 13th and 14th October between 8.00 am and 5.00pm, requiring the shutdown of electricity supply for both days of the weekend. Electricity supply will be restored overnight to minimise the impact.
The outages apply to customers in the areas of Tambo Crossing, Benambra, Mossiface, Sarsfield, Bruthen, Ensay, Swifts Creek, Omeo, Buchan, Orbost, Cann River, W Tree, Gelantipy, Wulgulmerang, Black Mountain, Nowa Nowa, Wairewa, Tostaree, Newmerella, Simpsons Creek, Bete Bolong, Marlo, Bemm River, Cape Conran, Cabbage Tree Creek, Bellbird Creek, Club Terrace, Combienbar, Noorinbee, Genoa, Gipsy Point and Mallacoota.
We’ve been working closely with the East Gippsland community in planning these important power outages. Condensing the program into one weekend means customers reliant on these power lines won’t be inconvenienced by ongoing outages to complete the necessary work before the bushfire and tourism season begins. We've mobilised crews from across our entire network to get the job done in two days.
We understand the inconvenience of being without electricity and we sincerely thank our customers for their patience.
The weekend shutdowns will provide 200 lines people safe access to replace approximately 90 power poles, 80 cross arms and another 390 maintenance items as part of the safety enhancement program.
